apart from hong kong, in singapore, we have taken root at tangs orchard, robinsons orchard and national design centre; in taiwan, we have stores in shin kong mitsukoshi xinyi place and eslite dunnan store, in japan, we have stores in tokyo’s shibuya-ku and in yokohama, all offering a refreshing selection of niche brands from all around the world, unearthed by the kapok team.
kapok took its name from the majestic emergent tree. kapok trees grow tall in their ecosystem, branching out to provide a home for plants and animals dependent on nourishment and exposure. kapok also provides a unique roof under which people in the community can meet and find inspiring quality goods. carrying a well-edited selection of international and local brands, kapok has become well known for introducing emerging exclusive creators to hong kong, singapore, taiwan and japan.
kapok has taken many opportunities to cross over into photography, art, design and food. since our inception, we have collaborated with hong kong’s creative scene by holding regular monthly exhibitions in our stores. with a dual aim to stimulate the store atmosphere and provide our clients with a different and unique experience during each visit, kapok has fostered young artists and creative minds we feel connected to. the most recent collaborations include holding the world’s first 3d printing pop up photo booth where we captured and crafted 3d miniature models in japan. we also collaborated with german contemporary culture magazine 032c, introducing their berlin legendary “société de 032c” parties to the city at the occasion of art basel hong kong. at the b jirushi yoshida x fennica travelling show, we joined forces with japanese retailer beams, to launch the b jirushi “global standard” line : a line of minimal-design, high-functionality travel and gift products previously sold exclusively at the narita airport international terminal shop.
